introducing reach Europe

If you follow our work at storytelling with data, you may be aware that we achieved a fun new milestone earlier this year: our first international hire. Simon Rowe, based in London, has brought to the team a new letter when we visualise data, an increased appreciation of timezones (including office hours that take place while the rest of us sleep!), and the ability to conduct SWD sessions in Europe without a transatlantic flight.

A global return-to-office means we are back to in-person workshops with our clients (hurray!). When you put all of this together, it allows us to kick off a new program that I’m happy to officially announce: reach Europe.

We initially launched reach in the summer 2019, shortly after Mike and Alex joined the SWD team. The goal then was twofold: 1) to make SWD workshops available at a lower price for organizations that don’t have big-company-level training budgets; and 2) to get our fully-trained new hires practical workshop experience. Mike and Alex traveled around the US, delivering several dozen workshops as part of this inaugural program.

Three years (and a global pandemic) later, we are excited to relaunch the program in a new locale: Europe. Our foundational tenets remain steadfast—bring SWD workshop content to non-profits, educational institutions, and other budget-conscious groups who will appreciate it, and give Simon a good deal of varied in-person workshop teaching experiences.

We invite organizations and teams based in Europe to apply to this special program. The application process is open through August 31st. Chosen organizations will be notified in September, with workshops to take place in Q4 2022.

If you know of organizations that may be interested, please help spread the word by sharing this post. If you’re an individual based in Europe who would like to attend a an upcoming in-person workshop, stay tuned, as we are about to announce our Fall line up (which might just include an in-person full-day workshop with Simon and me in London!).

We are excited to expand our regular workshop presence in London, the surrounding areas, and to broader Europe!
