happy holidays from SWD!

The above image is from the storytelling with data holiday party, which took place in a virtual environment called Showboat. In this 3D-rendered winter wonderland, our geographically-dispersed team donned our finest (and silliest) seasonal attire to play games, enjoy each other’s company, and look back on all that we experienced in 2021.

In many ways, this was a year of growth. Our community has grown—not just in membership, but also in skill, and in connectedness. You all have built this online space into a welcoming and supportive place for people at all stages of their data communication journeys to explore, experiment, and grow. For that, we are incredibly appreciative.

As the community has grown, so too has the SWD team itself expanded. Some of our new colleagues, like data storyteller Amy Esselman, you may have already met via the podcast or this very blog. Others, you’ve not been introduced to quite yet…stay tuned! 

We’ve also been able to reach more people than ever before, as our clients introduced their global teams to storytelling with data. Whether virtual or in-person, the opportunity to hold workshops that help people transform their data into compelling stories is a rare blessing—one that leaves us energized every time.

Speaking of being energized, the team is gearing up to do more of that. We will be stepping away to spend the last part of the year with our families and loved ones, away from storytelling with data entirely. We’ll all be offline through the rest of the year, and we look forward to sharing some great new stuff with you in ’22.
